The Fourth Annual West Coast Summit Conference on African American Genealogy will convene in San Diego, California on October 15 - 16, 2004. The event will be hosted by the San Diego African American Genealogy Research Group (SDAAGRG). Delegations from all West Coast AA genealogical societies will be in attendance, at the Marina Village Conference Center located at 1936 Quivira Way, on San Diego's Mission Bay.
The conference theme is "Looking to the Past to Create the Future". The keynote speaker will be Professor William B. Gould, IV, Professor of Law at Stanford University and author of "Diary of a Contraband: The Civil War Passage of a Black Sailor", a diary of the adventures of his great, great grandfather an ex-slave, in the U.S. Navy from 1862 to the end of the Civil War.
