Ref: p.716 Report of the Secretary of War of Statement showing number of persons murdered in the State of Tennessee by whom, and when, and the action taken in each case by the Civil authorites, from July 1, 1867 to July 1, 1868. Executive Documents printed by Order of the House of Repesenatives during the Third Session of the Fortieh Congress 1868-69.Among those listed killed were the fllowing "colored" (Africian-Americans):

Unknown-killed Feb 15, 1868, Shelbyville, Bedford Co, Tenn.
Case # 1 Name of Murderers:Edmonson; Result of Trial: No trial;
Remarks: The criminal fled the country and has not yet been arrested.

Sarah Martin (Colored)-killed July 2, 1867, near Woodbury,Cannon Co, Tenn. Case # 3. Name of Murderers: Unknown. Result of Trial: No trial.Remarks: Girl 14 years of age,after being ravished, at work in a corn-field.

James Drake (colored) -killed Oct 1, 1867, Near Brentwood, Davidson Co, Tenn. Case # 8. Name of Murderers:"Crockett, Bros", Result of Trial: Aquitted. Remarks: Provided an alibi and aquitted.

Newton Switzer (Colored)-killed Mar. 1868, Franklin Co Tenn.
Case # 14. Name of Murderers: Boddy,--. Result of trial: Aquitted.

Orange Rhodes (Colored) -killed Jan 7, 1868, Pulaski, Giles Co,
Tenn. Case # 15. Name of Murderers: Unknown.Result of trial: no trial.
Remarks: Supposed to have been killed by one McLemmon (white) in the
riot led by one Calvin Lamberth(white).All participants were indicted.

Peter Simno (Colored) -killed June 29, 1868, Pulaski, Giles Co,
Tenn. Case # 15. Name of Murderers: Unknown men in disguise. Result of
trial: No trial. Remarks: Taken from jail and shot in one of the
principal streets of Pulaski, at about 1 o'clock at night

----Birch (Colored) -killed July 4, 1868, Connersville, Giles Co
Tenn. Case # 15. Name of Murderers: unknown men in disguise. Result of
trial: No trial. Remarks: No action taken by the Civil authorities.

Henry Woodford (colored) -killed Dec 18, 1867, Humphrey Co, Tenn.
Case # 22. Name of murderers: Name unknown.Result of trial: Acquitted.

John Marabel (colored) -killed Feb- 1868, Humphreys Co, Tenn.
Case # 23. Name of Murderers: Robert Seary.Result of trial: Acquitted
