Workshop: Genealogical Research In Alabama

This is your invitation to attend a special workshop being held
Saturday, September 18, 2004, from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 100 E. 4th Street, Prattville, Alabama. This program is being sponsored by the Autauga Genealogical Society. The workshop is title, "Genealogical Research In Alabama" and will be presented by Larry E. Caver, Jr., of Prattville, Alabama.

The workshop will consist of two Sessions. There will be a
couple of breaks during the workshop including a 30-minute break with refreshments being furnished by the Autauga Genealogical Society.

The first Session of the workshop will address "Genealogical Records in Alabama". This session will include information about early Alabama records including information on settlement periods in Alabama, County formations, the types of genealogical materials that can be found in early County Courthouse Records, and many other records that exist in the state.

This session will also include information about some of the records that exist outside the state for Alabama Counties that were created under the Mississippi Territory. Each participant of this session will receive a Program Packet containing a program outline along with case examples of the various types of records that exist.

The second Session of the workshop will address "Genealogical Resources in Alabama." This session will include information on Historical & Genealogical Societies in Alabama, public & private libraries in Alabama with genealogical holdings, and other repositories in the state with genealogical records.

Each participant of this session will receive a Resource Packet containing materials provided by various Historical & Genealogical Societies across the state, as
well as information from other agencies and organizations with
genealogical holdings.

There is no cost for attending this workshop. Donations will be
accepted the day of the workshop to help defer the cost of the event. The only requirement for attending the workshop is to send in notification (R.S.V.P.) in advance to guarantee that enough workshop packets are printed for workshop participants.
