Wow, what an awesome tribute to some of the men and women who helped to build this country's economy!! Just think that a few short years prior to 1870, our slave ancestors were the economy!! When I first viewed the photo of the mural, I thought of how our slave ancestors likeness were on the legal tender of this country. I feel the mural is a fitting tribute and a testimony to our slave ancestors contributions to this great nation.
You all know that I can go on and on...but I'll cut it short. I will say this, I'd like to think that when our slave ancestors prayed for a better life, they dreamed of us, here and now in 2008 with all our finery and accomplishments. When I thank God for my life and what I have and have acheived, I also say a prayer for my slave ancestors. I don't ever want them to think that I'm ashamed of them. I'm so proud to have a slave past and I'd like to think that they were thinking proudly of me when they prayed for better times.
