Re: [FL] Foreman descendants in Alachua County
In Response To: [FL] Foreman descendants in Alachua County ()
Are you familiar with the Alachua County Archives online? Marriage records (1837-May 1973), some deeds, etc are there - http://www.clerk-alachua-fl.org/Archive/default.cfm
And the clerk of the court county records are online from 1971 pretty much up to the present at this location: http://isol.alachuaclerk.org/
A branch of my family migrated to Gainesville in the early 1900's. Using the above sites, I have been able to trace descendants of the migration family with marriages, deaths, divorce records, deeds, probare records, etc all from my home. I've also been very successful in location present day descendants in various parts of Florida based upon the records I found online.
In searching the Federal census for Gainesville in 1920, I see a T J Foreman, widow, with a daughter Gertrude who are neighbors to one Mary Roundtree. Is this your Thomas? If so, he owns his property, so you should be able to find a deed online in the archives.
On the Alachua Archives website I found a marriage record for one Gertrude Foreman to Clarence Walker in 1921. You can research records further to see if this is indeed your Gertrude and trace her descendants possibly up to present day.
Hope this helps you. Feel free to email me privately if needed. T J & Gertrude Foreman mentioned above are neighbors to one of my extended family members in the 1920 census on West Seminary Street(Mary R. Roundtree). Small world!
