[NC] Black Cemetery in Marshville, NC cir. 1920s

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has information on a cemetery in Marshville, Union Co., NC. My husband's grandmother was killed by a hit and run driver in 1926. Her name was Elizabeth Austin. According to her death certificate, she was buried in a cemetery near St Chapel St. I have contacted the historical society as well as some of the Union Co mailing lists regarding the name of this cemetery. No one seems to have anything information about it.

Family oral history says the "hit and run" was never investigated because she was said to be" just an ole indian". The information on the death certificate also looks suspect.

Any information on the location and or names of black cemeteries in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Linda
