This just might be something to hold as future reference, but there appears to have been a connection between the slave owning Balls and Moultries in Charleston.

I just began reading Edward Ball's "Slaves in the Family."
The Ball family held many slaves in SC. Edward Ball, the author of the book and also a descendent wrote this book as a result of the research he did to track down descendents of slaves that his ancestors owned.

I noticed there are some Moultries mentioned in the book.
Isaac Ball (a confederate) married a Mary Louisa Moultrie who appears to have brought some of her slaves into the marriage.
