The African American Preservation Alliance will hold their annual
conference in Memphis, August 3-5. The theme for 2006 is "Keeping Our
Eyes on the Prize." Sessions include: The Gullah Geechee National
Heritage Area; The Economics of Preservation; The Rural African
American Church Survey Project in Tennessee; Building Capacity in
Non-profit Organizations; Restoration of the Universal Life Building;
Julius Rosenwald and the Rosenwald School Building Program; African
American Heritage Development; Heritage Development and African
American Neighborhoods; The Underground Railroad Flight to Freedom
Program; Preserving Black Farm Land; Historic Cemeteries; and
Historic Neighborhoo d Initiatives.
