The History of Land Titles is a very good introduction to Land Distribution in Louisiana.

In order to view some of the historical documents online, you will have to download a special software package (viewer). IF you don't mind this requirement, try some of the links under Historical Documents (Plat Books, Tax Records, State Papers, Military Warrents, etc.).
