Burial Association Cartersville, GA

The Colored Burial and Benefit Association of Cartersville was organized April 24, 1890 and chartered on Jan 18, 1895. Its founder was Brother Austin Benham. It provided for the sick and shut-in and served as a meeting place for various organizations.

The lodge buidling was located at the intersection of Bartow
and Wykel Street and it remained in existence until the early 1960s when it
was demolished to make room for the Urban Renewal Project. Many local
cultural, civic, fraternal, religious and charitable affairs were held at the
Burial Lodge.
