I just read the post that said all the negatives and photos were destroyed in a fire at Pope Studio. However we know that is not the real truth. There are so many of us that have photos taken by Mr. Pope. I know we left The Friendly Church in Jamaica Queens almost every Sunday in our best clothes to take the train into Brooklyn to pose. I never forget one day at work a co worker told me she had seen a picture of me on display in Mr. Pope's window. I rushed over to see it. I wish there was someone that could organize a book with people bringing in there old photos.....it would be a beautiful tribute to Mr. Pope as well as a look at Black life in the late sixties.
