I used Family Tree Maker, version 2005.

My Format was the Standard Descendant Tree for as many generations as we had information (11). I played with the box size, information in the boxes, font size(s) and borders.

Dimensions came out to 101 pages horizontally (long) & 3 pages vertically (high). (303 8 1/2 x 11 pages total). A lot of 'cutting & taping'. ...101 x 9 div by 12 = 75.75 length in feet....11 x3 = 33 inches in height. Mine was so long because there were 12 children in that 1st generation and they were laid out horizontally.

There was a site, previously posted on AfriGeneas that will print 'large' trees from the FTM and other software packages. Mine would have cost in the neighborhood of $225.00.
