Re: Using Photos For Family Reunions

Trying to come up with new and exciting ideas is a joyful task. A couple of years ago I documented my family tree with my father's help. For an up coming gathering I will be using the information to share with others.
I have collected 5 different colors of butcher paper, one color to represent each line. I transferred the information from my normal size paper of the family to the larger sheets (3 feet wide and 6 feet in height). Over the last two years I have been copying photos of differnt family members. Whenever I can I will have a family member or friend to scan their photos for me and I will reduce or enlarge them for different uses. As I ran across someone's photo I put it on the large chart. Hopefully I will have a photo to correspond to each name or most. Just before the date of the event, I will go to a copy store and have two or three copies of the larger sheets made. At the gathering they will be displayed around the walls.
Another thing I have started doing is whenever I visit family or friends now I ask to look at their photo albums and family bibles. I will as if they would let me make copies. Usually I have to suggest they accompany me to the local discount store to have the copies made in their presence. So far it is working, a little costly but worth it in the long run. Also, it gives me a chance to learn more about the family and friends.
