Well we are having somewhat the same problem--'where's the money'. I just became a part of this extended families committee's. This is their 7th reunion. And come to think of it, our grgrandfather had 7 sons. I've come up with some ideas to put games in the mix--such as each board member should donate a item to be bidded on as an auction item. The rules are, $5 of real money will buy $5000 of monopoly money. Once the item is up for auction, no money can be purchased from the cashier until that particular item is sold. That way if you only have $5000 auction money, you will have to borrow/buy from someone who is not using theirs in order to go higher. Cashier can't help you until an item is sold. This is to get family to work laugh, talk/and joke with each other. I'm also trying to get thru to the committee that one letter in the past is not good enough now. You have to start early sending an annoucement, at least 3. Many of the members are older and on fixed incomes. Jobs require you to schedule all your vacation time 1 year in advance. Most family reunions are held in July and August. AND GAS --with the price of gas folks will have to choose the closest reunion to go to. Also if you are planning fund raisers and activities leading up to it, a flyer should be mailed as well as emailed to all addresses. ADVERTISING--you got to make it sound fun. After you have done all you can--whoever shows up will be the family reunion. All members who have internet access forget to tell other member's what's going on sometimes. We all have to remember to use this internet for communication. If a member does not have a computer, the library does. All they have to do is create a email address. And with all these kids using computer's at school for class, they can be given the job of getting, printing and spreading the word. You just do what you can and move on. Someone is always going to be unhappy about something.
