Booker Family Reunion
We the descendants of Mr. William Madison Booker (1880-1951) and Mrs. Willie Myrtle Booker 1893-1961, will celebrate the life and times of our beloved ancestors on Aug.31- Sept.2 in Joplin Mo. Mr. Booker's Father, born a slave in Mo. was also named William Madison Booker. At an early age Mr Booker started working for the TMO Rail lines out of Oklahoma (Indian Territory). It was in Chickasha, OK that William first saw Willie Myrtle. The year was 1902. She was washing clothes for the railroad workers. She was 9 years old. At that time she and her mother was living with the Indians. He took a liking to her and told her he was going to marry her. William was a cook on the railroad. On his travels through Texas he looked for land to purchase. He saw the land that he wanted in a small town named Colorado City, Texas adjacent to the tracks.William and Willie Myrtle was married in Chicksha, Okla. 03 Sept.1907.William ,his bride and daughter,Rosa born (1908) moved to West Texas and that was the beginning of a dynasty in Colorado City, Texas.
