After much genealogical research, I found that my family first came to Texas from Kentucky as slaves in 1855 and settled in the Dallas, Texas area. I have traced by family back seven generations. After over 150 years in Texas we are now planning our FIRST family reunion which will take place August 15-17, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. Through genealogical research and at my own expense, I have found that there are over 100 living family members of my family and that we live all over this country. Dallas is a good central location but travel for many (especially those with children) can be quite expensive. Does anyone know of grant sources or other activities that would cover this expense? We're hoping these sources exist but know they take time to obtain. That's one of the reasons I am planning so early.
