Your post brought back memories. We grew up with outhouses too. We got our inside bathroom around 1968 or so. Our house was the first on road that got it. What a luxury. I never understood why all the houses did not get them. I guess probably because my stepfather worked on the farm that the houses were owned by.

Sadly though, I went to SC a few years ago and on the one road, they still have outhouses. Some rural areas have been revamped, but I guess this area just hasn't. More strangly, it looked sort of out of the ordinary because two of the house had satellite tv disc. I know one doesn't have anything to do with the other, but it did look different.
