Re: Newly Found Family Members
In Response To: Re: Newly Found Family Members ()

Thanks you guys. You have given me hope and the courage to follow through. Mel, I am going to take your suggestion and let them know we haven't found positive documentation. But, I am swayed by the fact that not too many African American Stewarts were in Chester County SC in 1870 where both sides originated. I have multiple sources and documentation for my ancestors but we can't seem to find DC's for primary ancestors of the NJ branch. My cousin and I hope to go to Chester County SC prior to the reunion to search for records. Our only two remaining elders will attend and they may be able to give us a clue. Linda, good point, I will send out questionnaires to the NJ group and maybe I will have to do a separate tree for them. And you know something folks, I am impresed that so many are willing to travel from NJ to NC to meet a bunch of strangers. Are our ancestors motivating us? Anyway, I am becoming excited about meeting them and my newly found cousin and I are already best friends, like I always knew her and she got the same "curious" Stewart ways of doing/or not doing things as the rest of us and she has been accepted by and has become close to our only NC/SC elder.

Again, thanks so much Mel, Ed, Linda and Georgia for your thoughtful and encouraging responses.

God Bless,
