I was honored to finally meet Mel Collier in person when he gave a presentation on "Family Reunion Planning" at the Black Belt African American Genealogical Conference and Family History Fair last weekend in Selma, AL. If you haven't heard Mel speak before, let me tell you that he's excellent--a natural public speaker--and his presentation was so good that I suggested that he package and market it. I also took the opportunity to present his award for the 2006 AfriGeneas Volunteer of the Year. Take a look at some photos from the event.
