Finding the Maryland Community in Louisiana ...
The 1870 Census Iberville Parish, Ward 7 has Maryland born heads of families. Using the transfer date as a guide, I looked for those born before 1838.

(1) Butler, Thomas 37 m Mu Farm Laborer
with (Butler), Rose 39 F Mu [wife?]

Both Thomas Butler (37) and wife Rose (39) were listed as born in Maryland. Is he the 5 year old "Tom Butler" mentioned in the JPP "St. Inagoes" transfer?
