Saw this documentary for the first time on Christmas Day at 9:00 a.m on ESPN Classic.
It was about a Secret Basketball game that took place in private in an empty gymnasium between an all-white Duke Navy Medical School team and the North Carolina College for Negroes.
The game happened in the segregated south in 1944 (Durham, North Carolina on the campus of North Carolina College), when and where integration was illegal and dangerous, and it was important to keep it away from the press and anyone who could damage the careers and lives of those participating.
This is considered to be the first ever integrated basketball game, which never got recorded. A reporter tells his journey to discover the secret game.
I like this double fold, because it has some research methods or tips in it. Also, it is interesting to point out, that Duke (and probably other colleges and universities) has an Oral History Program, so he's been trained in oral history interviews.
