Thanks for the information Tony. But my friend and her parents insist that these men were black not in skin blackened for combat. I guess we will never know. Your comments inspired me to do a search of the airborne divisions (US). Here's a not flattering description of the 82nd and their attack on black soldiers. As Bennie mentioned, a lot of information was and is still being suppressed.
