Re: Civil war USCT records
In Response To: Re: Civil war USCT records ()

Richard and Bennie, there were four solders listed with the name of "Arthur Stewart." One from each of the following:
5th Regiment Camp Delaware Ohio (127th Ohio Volunteer Infantry)
73rd Regiment - New Orleans, LA
96th Regiment - New Orleans, LA
127th Regiment, Philadelphia Penn

Since my ancestor was born in SC (according to census records), I would think that the two New Orleans regiments most likely. I don't know if he received a pension (SC had no record of him serving). I have the Form 86; I sent one in for another ancestor and the information I received as a result of that search is not conclusive that he is mine. Should I send the Form 86 or take a chance that he filed for a pension and send in the Form 85? I really appreciate the guidance on this from you guys.

Alice
