I was wondering also about references to check for my Grandfather service in the Civil War as a Water Boy. My grandfather, Alexander W. Mcpherson born a mullato slave in Culpepper, VA. His father (owner) freed him at the approx. age of 17 to join the troops as the passed through VA heading north. Alexander made is way with the troops to Camp Parole, Annapolis MD. He left behind sisters and brothers, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Mariah, Marion, Crawford and Joseph. I have not had any success in finding anything to connect Alexander with Culpepper, The Civil War or his siblings. Can you help please?
