Thanks for your response. I often wondered how James could be that young and in the army, it seems to be more plausible that the family worked together for the regiment. Perhaps they gave him a drum to play with and told him he was a drummer boy or something? I don't know if we're related to Dr. Comer, I have heard good things about his book, I plan to read it.
