Hello All,

I have been contacted by producers from WNET/Channel 13, PBS Channel New York , NY

They are planning to film a four hour series: Remembering Slavery The series will consist of four one hour segments.

They plan to film a battle scene with U.S.C.T. units participating. I have been asked to put the word out to the Re-enactor community. A large number of troops will be needed, everyone is encouraged to get involved. I have supplied the production team with e-mail addresses for the contact people of each unit that I am in contact with.

Most of the battle reenactments involving U.S.C.T. take place from Feb - May with the "Battle on the Beach" in Asbury Park, NJ happening in early November of each year. If anyone knows of a battle re-enactment during the Summer Months featuring U.S.C.T. units that I may have overlooked, please let me know as soon as possible.

I will be meeting with the production staff this week in Philadelphia and will pass on the information from that meeting to each unit contact person.

Please spread the word and contact me with numbers of troops that can be mustered for battle. There will also be a need for civilian impressions such as male, female and children slave roles. There will be a segment on Robert Smalls and the taking of the Planter and his later life as a Rep. to Congress and the SC Legislature. There will be roles for men to represent Reconstruction era Congressmen and Senators etc.

Suzy King Taylor's life will also be depicted. I have contacted Actress/Impressionist Carolyn Evans. You may have seen her on PBS or remember her from Asbury Park, NJ's "Battle On the Beach", her impressions of Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth are great.

You may contact me via e-mail at: Byron3usct@hotmail.com of by phone (215) 844-1438

Yours truly
