Thanks for the link. It reminded me of reading Langston Hughes' "I Wonder As I Wander and the "Big Sea" which, if I can remember, are set near the Spanish Civil War and many places around the world circa 1931. It has been so long, I can't remember if he mentioned his service in the Spanish-American War? I just remember traveling around the world with him (through reading) and him talking about speaking Harlemese.
