It has been told in our family that William Edmondson (my ggrandfather) was a former slave from NC near Raleigh who was freed by the Union army and served with them during the civil war. He eventualy ended up in Alder Creek,NY working as a wood cutter married to Louise Fraker and raised 14 children. Does anyone have any information on this man?
