Many know of the Confederate Massacre of US Colored Troops by General Nathan Bedford Forrest,( he was also the founder of the KKK) and his troops on April 12,1864, at Fort Pillow ,Tenn. What is not well known, is that there were at least 6 or more large massacres committed by the Confederates in various states. Some are well documented and others not.
Poison Springs, Arkansas was the site of a massacre on April 18,1864, by the Confederates of the 1st Kansas Volunteers (later the 79th Inf. Regt.)USCT. More than 100 black troops were murdered.
There are others.
