National Archives adds Camp Nelson records to web
The National Archives and Records Administration has made Records of Death and Interment at Camp Nelson for 1864-1865 available on their free Internet site.
A total of 259 documents have I been digitized from these materials. The Records of Death and Interment
provide the descendant's name, rank, unit, cause and date of death, and burial location. The Records of Death from the Colored Refugee Home and the Freedman’s Hospital are for "contraband", slaves who escaped or were brought within Union lines. The latter records provide the descendant's name, height, and date of death. The original document materials are held by NARA's Southeast Region in Atlanta, Georgia.
