Brandywine may actually refer to the name of a supply ship used in Norfolk. The Brandywine used lots of civilians or contrabands as laborers, in addition to regualarly enlisted men. The original volumes of muster rolls are located at the National Archives I in Washington, DC. The only other reference I can offer as a suggestion would be an area called Brandywine, Maryland. However, I don't know of any military operations in that area during the Civil War.
