Re: Poison Spring Massacre
In Response To: Re: Poison Spring Massacre ()
Hi Tony: Very well stated, as usual. I forgot to mention Plymouth, North Carolina, where black troops who surrendered were chased into the woods and marshes and executed with black women and children and Yazoo City, Ms. Feb. 10th-25, 1864, 35 men of the 3rd Cavalry USCT and some of the white 11th Illinois. How about the Choctaw scalping, because of their disdain, to put it mildly, of the the black troops? I would term an atrocity, meaning any human being being brutally killed with no means of defense, but a massacre in my opinion and that of the American Heritage Dictionary, means several persons who are executed in that manner.
