Recent discussions of ancestrors who participated in the Civil War as soldiers or whatever, triggered my interest in researching a 3rd great-grandfather who served with Co. K of the 32nd USCI.

I secured the Service Record for Pvt. Peter Allen, added my genealogy research and along with his Grave Registration Record (burial)submitted my application (4/05/05) to the above mentioned group. Acceptance is dependant upon my documentation of lineage and proof of military service. And of course a fee.

My reasoning for joining such a group is to personally confront SOME Civil War enthusiasts, Union & Confederate, with the fact that people who look like me had an active part as a SOLDIER and there is plenty of supportive, primary documentation to confirm that fact. There is no need to manufacture a history of such activity.

Just a small effort, 'Lest We Forget'.
