German Brown Babies
I just started using this title because of a DVD named Brown Babies, the Mischlingskinder Story. In the 1940's/50's many black men had children by German women. Some of these men were married so they did not want family to know it....many who wanted to marry the mothers were forced to ship out to other locations. USA didn't want responsibility and Germany actually didn't either. These children were placed in a orphanage. I tell this story because I had a cousin who met and married a German lady in 1963. They had 1 son. He wanted his son, but was dischged in Germany where he tried to do rt. he came back to USA and left them there. Within the year he was home, he died in a car accident. I knew abt this family because he told me, but I was too young to help them. 1960's was not a good time for anyone military r civilian. I was a Pvt in the military at that time. Many years later, I got the Genealogy Bug and started posting everywhere, trying to find my military cousins family. 45 yrs later....in Dec 2013, I rec'd a email, asking was I the Cynthia that had posted info abt VERNON MILTON BRANCH. Yes I am. 2006 -12 I would repost, revamp, give as much info as I knew abt my cousin Vernon's son. It was/is HIM. 50yrs old. He was told his father went back to USA and that his mother died shortly after his birth. Half correct. She was alive in 1966. The son was born in 1963 and they were together. We r communicating...slowly. Vernon's son was brought up in one of those orphanages. I will be sending him by snail mail the first pictures he has ever seen of his father, mother and himself at age 3. How many Brown Babies r in these foreign countries who just want to know something about their heritage.
