Re: How To Confirm?
In Response To: Re: How To Confirm? ()

Hi Geoff
I failed to say I lived in the city where he was born and I remember when the record center had that big fire. It was said an employee was smoking in one of the areas and some of the ashes smoldered and started it. I had forgotten about that fire. I knew quite a few people who worked there and still do. ('By the way that center is being relocated to a newer building in the same city, records are being packed and moved, so it will probably take even longer to get military copies. I strongly suggest to all VETS, request copies of your medical and military records now. Relocation will start in 2011/12.') Because I am a neice and he has 2 daughters living in a totally different state as well as he had a 2nd family, and married a 2nd time without getting a divorce, info is not available to me. The girls are not interested in his history. So while I've been finding bits and pieces of this family of mine, I found out my paternal grandfather named 2 of his own sons after 2 of his sibling brother's. Jesse White is one of the names. It's such a confusing puzzle until I may just put it aside for another few years. Before '911' I was able to get any death certificate of anyone I wanted. Now it seems to take an act of congress to find anything. And when family hide information purposely, it just doesn't seem worth. Besides he wasn't my 'Daddy' and his daughters won't help. I feel all family members should be remembered and their names spoken, regardless of what they did when they lived. Sorry about this venting I just did. :\
