USCT PA Joseph R. Adger
Ran across an old posting (2005) on this site that included obits of a handful of USCT troups. One was for a Joseph R. Adger who died 1/22/1864 after getting sick aboard the US Ticonderoga. There is not citation as to where the info came from. Was able to find an application to the Navy which was rejected on behalf of a person with that same name. Also mentioned that he was active in recruiting Blacks in Philly to fight probably because he was familiar with Robert and Robert Mara Adger. In addition to trying to figure out the familial link, I am trying to find what regiment or an enlistment date for Joseph. I checked several on line sites, and several of the Civil War Union/Confederate books at the library. Any suggestions as to where else I should look (already trying to get his actual obit and the cemetery where he was interred no longer exists--graves were moved...but don't get me started on THAT mess)?
