I was going to post a query about this or these Wars but I wandered over to the NARA website and looked up the answer to this question. My question was: How does one research an ancestor who may have fought in the Spanish-American War or and the Philippine Insurrection? On the NARA website it says that " African Americans served in the Forty-eighth and Forty-ninth U.S. Volunteer Infantry. "

I wanted to ask this question because I believe I had a relative who fought in the Philippines. At least the article I read about his life said he served a four year tour of duty in the Philippines and I want to see if there are any records.
