Following is an article written by me titled Front and Center: Some Who Served in the United States Colored Troops. This is to honor my ancestors and all of the men of the United Staes Colored Troops. It is a detailed accounting of several ancestors who were Members of the USCT, from Lancaster County Pennsylvania. One of the profiles is of Walter Samuel Pinn (Corporal 54th Massachusetts USCT, Company B), my Great Uncle. He joined in 1863, and served in the same unit as Louis and Charles Douglass, the sons of Frederick Douglass. The article goes into their backgrounds, and gives the soldiers a face. Pennsylvania is celebrating the USCT and this article is in honor of that celebration and the United States Colored Troops.
