In Response To: Re: Lt. Flipper: Looking for ideas--not a debate ()
Our paths have crossed before: back in l990 (or perhaps 9l) you were involved in the Buffalo Solkdier Manument at Ft. Leavenworth and I sent you copy of my dissertaion on these soldiers. In 200l, a much revisxed version of this text and with the additioin of a cu-author (William Dobak) was published by the University of Oklahoma Press : The Black Regulas, l866-l898.
The book deals only with black enlisted soldiers: an editorial decision was made to cut the material from my dissertaiuon on black chaplains and the three black graduaters of West Point (Flipper, Alexander and Young). After publication I was encouraged to return to this "cut" material and via long prrocess I ended up with a focus on Lt Flipper.
I'd be happy to reply to your comments on this form-or if you prefer we can continue an excahnge of views via private emails. I will leave the choice to you My address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Again, thanks for your responde.
