This is the first time I have visited this list, so forgive me if someone already mentioned this resource.

A gentleman by the name of Dennis Northcott has recently published transcriptions of the GAR death rolls for the states of IL and IN. The books cover the death rolls for a period of approximately 70 years and is arranged in alphabetical order. The Indiana book has 207 entries for members of USCT units, and the Illinois book has 204. These members are both officers and enlisted men (so some may be white), and there are a wide range of units represented, indicating that although they died in one of these 2 states, they in all liklihood hailed many different states. At his website you can see what other states the author plans to do in the coming months/years.
