That's what I mean..It's all ridiculous..Why was it so important to white people to *try* to figure out to the exact fraction what heritage anyone had? (Not that they ever truly could have since white people did go to Africa and Black people did go to Europe and many did mix with each other freely long before whites brought Black slaves to this country.)
They did not want the *taint* of Black blood *sneaking* into their own families, right? So what difference could it have made to them whether someone had 1/10 Black heritage or 3/4 Black heritage if they did not want their white families making babies with anyone with any Black heritage at all?
And then those with some mix of African blood made a difference between themselves and those who had more or less African blood..because WHITES made a difference..
It was a vicious absurdity all the way around..
