In NC apprentice bonds, I've actually seen babies bound out. Usually they are also listed in the bastardy bonds and some are orphans and can be found in the guardian court records and in both cases are often apprenticed out to other FPOC (possibly relatives, possibly the father's family). Although I have seen cases where babies were bound out to whites as well.
