Thanks for posting the information. Did any of these bills of sale also include prices for the slaves? Furthermore, were these bills of sale recorded at the courthouse or did they remain in the family's possession unrecorded?

The reason I ask is that I study African American slave documents and am researching bills of sale specifically in Virginia. Although my research focus is Tidewater Virginia, I also collect examples of bills of sale in other counties so as to better understand the slave trading process in the state and in the upper South. I'm looking for similarities and differences across and within regions, so any bit of additional information you could provide would be helpful.
