Jacque Puech inventory New Orleans 1807(Huge!)
In the attempt to learn more about the life of my ancestor, Carolina Pitre, in New Orleans before she came to St. Landry Parish as the slave of cajun named Francois Pitre, I managed to track down the inventory of the late husband of the widow who sold Caroline. Unfortunately, the inventory is 160 PAGES LONG! and its in FRENCH. Im not surprised by the French part considering its New Orleans in the early 19th century. But I didnt expect his inventory to be so volumnious. Also, the inventory was never microfilmed. So basically, I was able to get five pages of it. To copy the entire inventory would cost be 320 dollars! Thats a lot of money. I guess it would be cheaper if I was to go to New Orleans in person. My ancestor is probarly on the inventory somewhere. Has anyone ever encountered as problem like this in ordering records?
