Date of birth found on tomb in St. Jean's Cathedral Cemetary, Lafayette, La. Succession #1093 Lafayette Parish, La. Marie was never reported to have been legally married. But had several children fathered by different persons. She was decribed as a very dark negress in the testimony given by Victor and St. Ville LeBlanc in her son's, Jean Baptist Marie Jean Louis' succession. At the time of her death, she was living in concubinage with Alexandre Darbonne. In Lafayette Conveyance #2140, 28 Feb 1854, three slaves she owned Suzanne (30yrs)- negresse, Clemence (12yrs)- mulatress, and Eugenie (11yrs), were divided among her sons. Eugenie went to Don Louis, Suzanne went to Jean Baptiste, and Clemence went to Louis Martin. She is buried in the St. Jean Cathedral Cemetary in Lafayette, La. It has not been determined who her mother was.
