thanks for the response... my relatives were actually free people of color who were descended from slaves who arrived in louisiana during the French and Spanish period. Everyone in the colony were required to be Catholic..so it makes sense my ancestors were catholics and used catholic naming conventions. Thanks, you've gave me something to think about. My dad has a catholic given name of "Joseph". Do you know of any books or info that gives info about catholic naming traditions??? Quick question about godparents... were their certain requirments for being a godparent in catholism???
