Hi Jaime, I am probably pretty "off base" with this thought. Maybe your Godett's were from Nova Scotia. I was recently contacted by one of my Charity family members who migrated to Canada very early from VA. I recently read something about Nova Scotia being called New England at one time. Anyway, I have friends from LA who the GAUDET surname. I have done some research on this name and found that some migrated to LA from Nova Scotia and are Arcadian. My friends pronouce the name GO-DAY. Have you checked other spellings? BTW, my friend is mixed and looks very Hispanic or Indian even though I know he is Creole.
