I'm not sure if this will help you, but there is a book called "Somebody Somewhere Knows My Name." I can't recall the name of the author; I ordered the book a few day ago at Barnes and Nobels. I was told the book list marriages in NC up until 1866 (freed people). I received a lookup from someone who told me I had family in the book, so I wanted to see the information for myself. I should have my book by 12/20/02 and I can tell you what the book is all about.
Maybe your families marriage will be listed in the book also.
