Hi everyone,im an african american female doing research on my family ancestory.Im trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together.

Yet I think this is the best place to start.Ive found out that I have melungeon blood on both my mothers and fathers side of the family.

Ive heard terms like black foot,cherokee,black irish,red bone,and melungeon used in my family.Also tales of free slaves.

My family names are Gibson,Yancey,Meyer,Pinnix,and Paylor.Would love any leads on where to even begin figuring out what tribe my family is really from?
