The only thing I know about Congressman Rainey's family is that his father was a barber - and bought his families freedom. The only free barber named Rainey in the 1850 census for Georgetown is an Edward Rainey b. 1805 - who is listed as a mulatto. His wife Teresa is also listed as mulatto.
